Default Escort Sonar Detection Ranges

Just wanted to get clear on a few things;

From what distances can destroyers detect you with passive sonar and Active Sonar/ASDIC, and how does this vary between destroyer types,Sub classes and U boat types , and thermal layers ?

If I've got balkon Gerat hydrofone on my Uboat, can I detect all ships before they can detect me ?

Do decoys like BOLD only block active sonar or both ?
