Default Mark 18 performance question

I've noticed that the mark 18 misses at 10-15 feet below the keel, but seems to hit at a depth setting less than 10 feet. is this normal?

Historically speaking, the Mk 18 did not have reported depth keeping issues or exploder problems.
It did however share the circular running issue with the Mk 14 and that DOES happen in SH4.
So I dont know why youre having issues. Are you running any mods?

Actually, when the Mark 18 was first introduced, it did have depth keeping problems. Most were solved but they did tend to run deeper from time to time.O Kane and others talk about this in their books.

In SH 4 i believe Mark 18 comes into service around August of 43....set them shallow until Jan 44 or so, you'll be fine. Will on rare occasion get a dud.Prematures, well Mark 18 did not have magnetic exploder but does in the game, just use contact only and you wont have to worry about prematures.

Circle run is always a problem with Mark 18, I have one not long ago and it was July 1945.

Hey Bubblehead! Glad you're here!

Hey, I'm getting a lot of Mark 18 duds in 1945 with TMO 1.8 beta. Just loaded up with Mark 23s alone for what might be my last cruise of the war.

Thanks guys, read posts on here for a bit but never posted much but suppose that has changed...

Robbins, not sure why you are getting so many duds in 45 with 18's, guess its a snafu with the game.

I like the wakeless feature of 18's but their limited range and speed can be liabilities at times, but nothing can't overcome, just have to shoot a little different.
