Default Interesting account activity

appears that someone has been using my master card to

1. purchase a bus ticket in Jonkoping, Sweden for $21.70

2. Donate .14 to a charity in Stockholm

3. spent $1,076 on some sort of phone service with "Moobi" in Oslo, Norway

fascinating.

I only had it happen once. Someone used one of my cards in a porn shop in Annapolis.

A few months ago I got a call from my bank asking me if I had been doing some shopping in Miami.

It wasent much some gasoline, small charges at a convienence store that sort of thing really less than 100 dollars all told.

Only thing is I was no where near Miami at the time and put a stop to that card and had the charges re-imbursed.

Someone was making counterfit cards, complete with magnetic strips, and just 'testing' them at random before they went for the big money.

When we were handing over the boat to the other crew one of the blue crew guys went into my rack and swiped my debit card from my wallet. I was about to go on leave and had another card so I wasnt worried initially. When I got back and had a huge box waiting for me at the barracks I got suspicious. Checked my bank account and I had been buying gas all over Kitsap county when I was in Wisconsin, and I had bought $1500 worth of Mustang parts to a Mustang I didn't own. Told my command, NCIS, and the bank. Command and NCIS couldn't care less even after I figured out who it was on my own. NCIS didn't even want the parts as evidence. But the bank refunded me all the money.

So, how do the banks know that I don't just send my card with someone else for some quick shopping or cash machine withdrawals out of country? Seems like they just pay you the lost money without any fuss. Had a friend that was skimmed, and the bank just did a refund on his account. I guess it's mostly peanuts to them compared to people loosing faith in credit cards.

sorry goldenrivet, I just had to go from Jonkoping to Gothenburg that day...

Apparently someone in florida tried to steel my fathers identity once, it was caught earlier but we joked a lot about "Are you really you or are you the one who stole the identity!" :rotfl:
