Default Request

Hi guys,

I'm wanting to start a new career in mid '43. I want to command a IXC and operate off the coast of America.

Can someone please give me some historical references to places where I would likely be sent to?

Also,
How were U-boat upgrades dished out? Did everyone get the upgrade once it reached port, or did the commanders have to fight over it?

Cheers.

Real upgrades? If it was experimental, the Flotilla Commander's favorite might get it first (there's that renown thingy). Once it was common, boats were probably upgraded while they were in port - first come, first served.

I don't know that for certain, but it's the way it was done when I was in.

Thanks Chaps.

I decided instead to go for the base in Norway.

Where is the best place to intercept ships bound for Russia?

Patrol the Caribbean Sea north of Caracas, especially around the choke point between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. LOTS of single tankers.
It might start getting pretty hairy though in mid '43. Aircraft might hassle you a ton.
My current Atlantic career is mid '43 and the last patrol I made was to that area but, alas, me and my crew never made it-my boat went down with all hands in the Atlantic enroute while attacking a convoy I stumbled upon.

Good luck!

Thanks chaps. I chose to transfer to the wrong flotilla and ended up in the med :rotfl:

Unfortunately I got too confident with a DD escorting two merchants. I let him go on a DC run while I was at periscope level, this is late '43 and it ended messy

I just reahed north america in my current career (started at '39 and now is mid '42) with my IXC . I decided to go through all the east coast starting a bit north of halifax and then traveling my way down until i was out of torps or worse ... For me atleast this area was nice, i found two merchants (armed but not escorted) and it was easy prey. Just few days later , large convoy. At that time my save crashed so i started the patrol from the begining but i am going for the same area.
