I would prefer to keep my two homing torpedoes for "Scheisse hits the fan" situations, but any time I fire a T1 he automatically loads my reserve T5. Is there anyway to prevent this?

Why not turn off autoreload? There is a checkbox in the top left of the torp load screen when you hit "I" but then you need to make sure that they get loaded yourself.
The auto reloads are simply done in the order the torps are racked from top to bottom so when you load them in base make sure they are loaded into the right slots in the first place. |

Ah I figured they'd load them from closest to farthest as is shown in the layout when selecting your torpedoes. That would make more sense afterall! Anyway, I did have to turn it off in order to unload and load the appropriate torpedo. I was just wanting to leave it on without the hassle.

Before you put out to sea, shuffle the torpedos in reserve (or amongst tubes as well) to put them in the order you want.

I was referring to shuffling torpedoes in the equipment upgrade screen before launching the mission. Once I have launched the mission, turning off auto reload is the third thing I do. The first is to order the anti-arcraft gunners to fire at will (It is 1944 now, and there is almost always at least one air raid before I get out of harbour, and several before I can safely dive). The second thing is to turn off the RADAR set. I only use it to find lone merchant ships in bad weather when hydrophones show no escorts about. Leave it on, and it will give your position away.
