Hey you auto repair experts !!
Ive got a 96 toyota tacoma truck.
I need to replace the starting motor. As usual I will disconnect the battery before commencing work. The catch is I may not be able to afford the replacement starter for a week or so. Will there be any complications from leaving the batt disconnected for that long? Or should I re-connect the battery after the starters removal?

There's no problem disconnecting the battery and letting it sit for a week, unless it is a really old battery (4+ years). My car sits for a week without being used regularly.

All I know is these days some cars have computers and crap that will go bonkers even if the battery is disconnected for a few minutes. The dealer actually has to put a temporary power supply on the battery leads while the battery is being changed out. (Volkswagon.... cough cough) :rotfl:

My only advice is not to have any beer while working on your vehicle. I always seem to have left over bolts every time I work on a car and drink at the same time.
