Default Bedbugs!

Unfortunately actual ones...Not a funny Youtube clip or anything like that.

Anyone have any experience dealing with them? I'm starting to think it's not a mosquito that's getting me the past couple nights in a row, I would have found him by now. And I just got back from a hotel about two weeks ago...

There are several varieties of them, it would help to know what to do if you could narrow down which ones are 'bugging' you. You might want to take the bed sheets etc. and wash them, and treat yourself with this ointment that is available in pharmacies.

Also, set this as your uboat emblem.

It's summertime now, so that's good. Take all your bedding and leave it outside in the sun all day, and the next, and the one after that, including mattresses. this will heat it up beyond what the bugs like and many will just plain leave the bedding. It will also dry it out, depriving it of moisture. this is in addition to using bleach or some commercial preparation to wash what you can.

while the bedding is outside, go over all the bedframes thoroughly with bug spray. (at this stage, if you really have bedbugs, you should see them scurrying around)

however, eggs may survive, so you may have to repeat this cycle a few times before the population is worn down.

I'll get them, yes I will! I've torn apart my bed, washed and dryed everything but the box spring and mattress. Will vacuum everything and visually inspect later.

A simple way to differentiate between them: A mosquito will bite exposed skin. A bedbug will bite what's under the covers.

One good thing about bedbug bites: If you leave them alone (i.e. manage to keep yourself from scratching them) they'll go away within an hour.

How to tell if you have them: Not only the bites, but the remains. They are very easy to smash, so check your sheets every morning. Little black smudges are ones you smashed in your sleep; little red smears are the ones who got some of your blood before getting squashed.

Bug sprays: Raid and the like will kill them, but only when you spray them directly, which makes the sprays fairly useless.

DE: The only think I've found that actually kills them is Diatomaceous Earth. It is the powdered remains of diatoms, and gets in their joints and scratches their skins so they die of dehydration. Best of all, it comes in "food grade" that is absolutely harmless to any higher organisms (like pets and people). Just search for it online to order it.
