Default Help...can't find downed pilots

Figured I would post this in the mod forum since I am running mods.

I am running RFB+RSRD+TMO Plot. All latest versions all patched up.

I get the mission to go up to the Solomons (Jan 1943) and pick up three pilots. I can't find anything. My crew can't spot a thing. I do get some unusual unknown land contacts (over 100nm away). Not sure if that is supposed to be last reported position of the pilots. Cruise in and look around. No smoke, nothing. Nothing on sonar.

This has to be the most frustrating mission in the whole game. Any helpful TTP (Tactics, techniques, or procedures) would be appreciated.

That's strange. Sometimes it takes a little time. What interested me was the stationary contacts that show up. I asked a long time ago in the RSRD thread about those, because I get them all the time since I went to 411. They basically show up where you patrol, but can be several hundred miles away. Not sure what they stand for. I thought they may mean something came through and was spotted. I've run over several that show up on water.....nothing.

Right place and the right date???, better double check, you should see smoke.

The reason I am asking, is that I have shown up at the location and had to wait for the date to change( I was 2 days early).

If youre late, then they prob drowned.

That mission is a pain in the ass. Go to your assigned area and watch for pink smoke. Sail to it and find the pilot in the binocs. When the icon in the command bar at the bottom lights up click on it. I rescued a few pilots but eventually gave up on that mission.

OK, they finally showed up. Departed Brisbane 17 Jan, got to area, no pilots. Sank a merchant, refuel, rearm at Tulagi. Go back to area Jan 29, find two pilots. Leave and come back on 1 Feb and find 4 more. Mission complete, I am out of here.

I won't even talk about how the pilots drift faster than a merchant cruises or that my crew is useless at a rescue.
