War in the boats "the book"
Hello Guys,
I just finished reading one of the most interesting sub books called "War in the boats" most of you hard core have likely read it already, but I just had to post this, in this book Capt. Ruhe, the author, captures the essence of the submarine officer. The frustrations, hardships, fear, and ultimate glory of the silent service are powerfully captured. The patrol accounts are spine-tingling and not all captains are spit and polish, like in some other sub books i have read, he makes you feel as if you were there. Capt. Ruhe details all his daily concerns, both as a junior officer, and as the Executive officer. You get a good feel for his leadership style, and those of the other wardroom officers. The book is easy to read and he adds his own home brand of humor and ancedotes. I Recommend it to all. Indy Other sub books I have read. 1. Clear the bridge by R.H. Okane 2. Nothing friendly in the by Vicinity. Conner 3. Submarine by E.L. Beach 4. Spadfish by S.L. Moore 5. In the course of Duty. Don Keith 6. Silent Running. Calvert 7. Silent Victory by C. Blair 8.
