Manual Targeting
Howdy , just experimenting with Manual Targeting in the academy and had a few questions : After I entered the Range , AOB , Speed of a target I went to the attack scope , when is the best time to Fire ? I got my first kill by firing almost right away . I was about 2.3km away , AOB about 60° , if my memory serves me rite the eel arched a bit , then went straight in , KABOOM ! I also can't remember the targets barring from me neither , but it wasn't 0°. It was probably around 10° or so .
Secondly , Is there a Torpedo Spread Chart anywhere , just for quick lookups . For example : I would like to know , what is the spread of my torpedos ( how far apart ) in meters from each other , of a 2 torpedo shot , with a 5° angle set in the TDC , at a distance of say 2.3kms , would be . Thirdly , I KNOW and UNDERSTAND not to change MODS in mid patrol but can I change GAME OPTIONS in mid patrol , for example : changing my realism setting to include MANUAL TARGETING ? Or shoud I wait for the next patrol ? thanx Jerry |

spread in meters = tangens of spread angle * distance in meters In this case it would be 200m. Quote:

Wait for the next patrol if you want to be on the safe side. But I don't think manual targeting things are saved into savegames or whatever. It should be no problem. Except if you want to change to a mod that changes things in the environment aswel. Just changing from automatic to manual targeting in the stockgame is ok.
One degree is 17.5 meters at 1km range. 5 degrees is 87.5 meters at 1 km range. So at 2.3km this is indeed just over 200 meters. There are not many ships that long. So I suggest you use a smaller angle.
