Hi all,

Just thought I'd say hello after finally joining the forums after perusing them for some weeks now. I recently picked up SH3 from a friend having a clear out and have been hooked ever since, especially after doing my usual inquisitive habit of looking into mods for the game and finding these forums. The info I've read so far here has helped immensely so I first of all thank everyone whose posts I may have read (no, I can't name names...).

As you can see in my sig I've totally pimped my game from stock with the most mentioned mods and I'm pretty happy with it so far. I'm normally a flight sim guy and regularly fly MSFS and my original addiction, Falcon 4 Allied Force (and OpenFalcon for those in the know). Anyhow, I'd heard of the Silent Hunter series before and although I was interested I never got around to getting the game until now.

All I can say is that I've spent far too long in front of my PC and it's even inspired me to write again as I used to write short stories but stopped a long time ago. See the U-Boat Diaries link in my sig (just click the banner) and let me know what you think, I'm a little rusty. It may not be updated as often as I'd like because I've got a busy period coming up and it is reliant on me getting the game time to write about, but please check back to find out my latest escapades as a Kaleun.

I won't go on any more but I look forward to some good banter with you all in the near future.

Am interested in your U-boat writing,we have a few writers among our crew here and they are very good indeed!I find the writing very inspiring when it comes to running a patrol,reading some of the stories on here and I'm itching to fire up GWX and go out on patrol so it will be good to have another writer to count among us!

Any help needed with the game or finding a mod then just hollar and usually there is someone here to help,Happy hunting

I have to mention a strange coincidence that happened to me the other night. Looking through these forums I've seen loads of references to Das Boot and I was planning on trying to get hold of a copy to watch it. So Friday night I'm doing a patrol on my PC in the living room and my girlfriend was flicking through the channels on the TV. Suddenly she says 'Oh look, it's you...' and laughs. I look over at the TV and there it is, Das Boot, just started on BBC2.

Watching the film, I noticed all the sounds and stuff that have made it into my modded sim and loved every minute of it, a great movie. One thing I'm glad of though is that I never saw the film before I started playing SH3 as I would never have appreciated it to the same degree as now.
