How do you get the hydrophone hunting tutorials to work

I use SH3 v1.4 without GWX (I might install it when I get the hang of altering games)

I am trying to load the hydrophone hunting tutorials.
I have downloaded and exported the files from winzip.

I have followed the following advice:-
Copy the training missions to SH3/data/single missions/english (german/french)
Copy the Sound folder to SH3/data/sound in order to replace the GWX propeller sounds by the stock game sounds.
SH3/data/cfg/contacts.cfg should be replaced by contacts.cfg attached to this tutorial, as the distance reporting used in GWX is not
applicable for methods demonstrated in this guide.
Copy SH3.sdl to the SH3/data/sound

The game crashed whenever I tried to load the training missions.
I tried just doing the following:-
Copy the training missions to SH3/data/single missions/english (german/french)

Still the game crashed.

Can anyone help me out there?

As I explained in another thread, the more modern versions GWX-SH3 (GWX 1.03 and later) crash because of a wrong ship ID-value for the Ammonition ships in the mission files. Explained in the very first post of Raduz's hydrophone thread:

However, since you don't have GWX you can't use it anyway. GWX completely modified/re-aranged the ship database, adding alot of other ships. It simply won't work on Stock sh3.
