Default It's that time again, going back under the waves!

Sorry if this has been asked a lot but I'd like to get back into SH4. I've spent a few hours reading through the forum and I'm more confused...

There are just so many mods out there its unbelievable!

Can anyone direct me to the most complete over hall mod, or series/group of mods that will bring me up to speed on things?

I LOVED Grey Wolfs SH3 stuff but I read that the SH4 stuff is still in the works with no ETA.

I plan on downloading the U boat missions (from here Neal ) so I have the full package.

And since its been some time (last time I logged on here was 10/07 doh!) I still would like to use aids so hopefully you vets haven’t stripped them out of the mods yet...

I'm VERY excited to see how far things have come since I last played!

Thanks again for any assistance!
Lawndart

PS how do you search the forums? I can't find the button...

before you add any mods or start playing the game you need to make a complete backup copy of the entire "data" folder in the programs directory so you can make repairs and restore files later on.

i guarranty you will have to do that on more than one occassion, its just a fact of life lol.

you should do some multi installs so you can have a TMO game and a RFB game both with the rsrdc campaign fix installed with them.

dont forget the Real Environments mod that everyone loves and then for the german side of the game you have operation monsun with an atlantic campaign and more german subs.

there is another big mod called FOTRS which is a good one to try as well.

besides these big mods there are oodles of extra mods made for use with them and by themselves as well.

the best thing is to play a career as stock game first to get used to everything so you can appreciate what changes the mods make but more importantly you need to be able to realise when something isnt working correctly too.

good luck and good hunting

Thanks for the help Webster! I downloaded everything and intalled them except U boat missions... It appears that in the time I moved from Texas to Vancouver BC all my credit cards expired... fun stuff, I guess I'll wait for U-boat missions...

If you use the "Advanced Search" it will.

Cheers Fishie!

Do I need the Uboat add-on for RFB and RSRD? I'm assuming uboat and "1.5" are the same?

and if I add Uboat later I'm assuming I'll need to disable these in JGSME before installing instead of starting from scratch?
