I am not sure if this is supposed to happen but after a mission in 8-44 I was automatically sent for a refit. A new paint job to be exact.
After the refit I was in the upgrade screen and noticed that my upgraded deckgun, upgraded AA guns, both radars, and my upgraded passive sonar were set back to stock. I was able to upgrade everything (which cost renown) except for the passive sonar upgrade which was no longer available. I feel like this is the opposite of a refit. Is there a way to choose not to get a refit? I'll take my improved sonar and the renown I could have used to buy hydrogen peroxide torpedoes instead of a paint job.

Did it give you a choice? I think it usually does, but as I recall I once got a refit of my con tower late 44 in a Gato that I kept throughout the war and had no say in it, but I didn't lose anything. If you have the choice all you can do is go back to your save point before port and refuse the upfit.
Yep, if you take a newer sub you lose a lot of your newer equipment, which is silly. Without reknown, you're stuck without it. My guess is it's just something TMO didn't change. Like they would send a newer class sub out to sea with WWI equipment or none at all. |

Nope it didn't give me a choice. Just your submarine has been given a refit MS-blahblahblah which is a new paint job.
Ah well I guess I just have to live with it.

I seldom make it to 44. I play if I die, I start over. Stinks they do a paint job upfit. I do know everytime I get a new sub I had to buy all the extra's. So now I stock up on plenty reknown. When I do get to where I can buy the powerful torps, I like to fill up. Sadly, that's why I'll harbor rape once in awhile at Truk... |

its got to be hard coded because its such a major gripe i have to believe the great modding talent around here would have fixed it if it could be done.

Ducimus has completed a fix for the problem.
Check in the Trigger Maru Thread in the Mod Section See post number 1127. (page 57)

I haven't loaded the fix yet, but I think it just fixes the JP sonar, not losing all your equipment with an upfit.

Directly from the hotfix in the TM thread.
1. Fixed typo in equpiment upgrades that prevented JP sonar from being available throughout 1944. This was most noticeable after getting a refit and the sonar disappearing for no apparent reasons.
