Default I get CTD when asking sonarman to tell me the distance!

Hi to all,

I've a problem with sonarman icons. When I ask to sonarman to find the ship distance (by clicking on both approximate and acurate distance finding icon), the game quits with CTD!
Anyway, I can ping myself the target clicking on the button in the sonar station and all is ok.

Is there a fix for this issue?

thx!

This happens usually when one or more of the related *.ogg files in ...\data\Sound\Speech_En\*\ is stereo encoded.
They have to be mono encoded.
To solve your prob, look for the related files in all directories 1 - 9 and convert them to mono.

Thanks for your surgical answer!

Just a question on the files I have to check.. there are many SoM_xxx.ogg files! I can't check all of them, too many.. do you know which one is implied?

There are three sonar files in the sound folder. When I checked mine, they were all two channel stereo. Try converting them to mono and see if it works. If it does, be sure to report back.

Hi irish58,

not the *.wav files in 'Sound' folder are the culprits but the *.ogg files in Speech_En\* or Speech\* folders... * = 1 - 9

@Sag75
I'm afraid you have to check them all because you'll always get a CTD in future when SH3 takes access to these files.
I think they were introduced by some mod...?

Cheers,

Do you use any mod that replaces some of the mentioned *.ogg files?

It's not depending on the sub type, but different campaigns and different subs will select sounds from different folders. There are nine speech folders, and each one has three of each type of file - 27 different files for each 'comment'.
