I have aske also how come my torps go 180 degrees insthead
of in a straight line once again no reply


I ask if I was sandwiched between two DD was ther a way
to torp them without having to turn my sub?

Did I find the rigth place to get answers or should I look else where ???

Hi, and welcome aboard.
Posting a question in a "how to stickey" usually won't get a lot of help.
I usually post in the SH3 forum, and I really can't answer your questions, but eventually someone will come along and help you.
I do know that, at least for most of the war, you need to turn your sub to 10 degrees or less to have a chance to hit anything. Later in the war some torpedoes (torpedos in the US) had some seeking ability.
Before that they all ran straight once the deflection was established.

Yeah, best to start a new thread and you will get answers. What are you playing? SH3 or SH4? Many differences in how to launch a torpedo between the both.

If you're asking how to use the spread angle input into the TDC, the input is for the next torpedo you shoot and any subsequent ones if you don't change the setting. You are setting the number of degrees left or right of the aiming point you wish the next torpedo to hit. You must reset the spread angle for each torpedo you shoot if you choose to input spread angles.

If you are sandwiched between two DDs, you are crushed to death and dead people cannot torp or turn.

That one would have to translated into intelligible language in order to be interpreted. The short answer is that torpedoes go where they are aimed. If you don't want them to "go 180 degrees" don't aim that way. There really isn't enough information here to give an answer that you would think is helpful. Are you talking about 180º true or 180º relative? Or are they going out on the aimed course and completely reversing to the course opposite your aimed torpedo track? Are you shooting bow or stern torpedoes? Manual or automatic targeting? What is your aiming procedure?

You already know the answer to that because you have already read dozens and dozens of well-asked and well-answered questions here at Subsim. When a question is asked and no answer comes, it is usually the fault of the question and you have to think about whether you have asked a question an expert can answer with confidence that we are helping you. Most people hate investing time in an answer that the questioner finds is not helpful. Please don't waste our time. Ask clear questions and supply the information we need to help you. When you respect the people with the answers, you will be swarmed with helpful answers and advice.

Example: asking "Why do ships I torpedo not sink?" Isn't helpful. You would have to say how many and what kind of torpedo you shot. You would have to identify the target. Did the torpedoes explode or were they duds? Adding details to help people help you is important, as is decent spelling and standard English.

Obvious where a torp go depends on range, bearing, angle on the bow and speed. Hopefully this will help. There are also many stickys here that have video's on how to shoot where you want.

We realize that when you first start the game you really don't know how to even ask a reasonable question. In that case just suffer through the trial and terror process until you can formulate a decent question. Ask "if someone asked me this question, could I answer it?" Small details make the difference.

First of all I apologise for my poor anglish writing, I do much better

I didn’t mention this when I asked my question I am sorry if I offend

“Technical Help & Questions, Guides and Trainings: TDC, Radar, Sonar and More...”

But every one chat about videocard etc but no one noticed my question
If only someone had reply to me I can not help you or something at least
It would have showen some politness.

I puchased this game a week ago, so did my two brothers we never play
Sub simulation before and we like this game very much and playing online
we have a ball but also lot of questions which our booklet do not give us
answers.

Rockin Robbins, I understand that since Mar 2007 some of you played that
game plenty of times and some questions may have been ask too many time
and maybe that is why one can be fedup of answering it.

Even so, politness have it’s place in the real life.Yes it’s a virtual game
and virtual forum, but behind each question there is a real person with real
feelings no mater his or her age so courtesy I think is a must instead of an
answer like this one and I quote “Please don't waste our time.”

We all want you to enjoy the game as much as we do. It takes some time to get use to manual targeting, so hang in there.

In some threads questions get overlooked...I know, so sometimes it's best to just ask, just give all the info that you can.

It's a great game, give it time, you'll love it. Load up one of the Supermods soon, RFB or TMO. Both get rid of several bugs and make the game 100% better, not to mention the graphics are much better.

Ranker, you're right about one thing. The thread you posted in for some reason has been short-circuited for quite some time now and is mostly full of irrelevant conversation unrelated to its original purpose. That's why I never visit there, and I'll bet that most who help the newbies around here don't visit it either.

Please visit the Submarine Skippers' Bag of Tricks thread and search around for specific threads about various problems. This game has a vertical learning curve, and like I said, when you start, you can't even formulate a decent question to get the answer you need. You end up asking the wrong question and not getting the nelp you need. That's what I was trying to say. With more experience will come more focused questions and better answers.

Don't get frustrated. It gets better and better!
