Perplexed on ship fires and sound ! HELP !

Hello, All

well, in my modding adventure I am clearly stumped on a few things, if anybody can shed some light, I would be greatful....

1. where and what nodes/ or files exactly control ship fires, small fire and large fires,

I have looked everywhere in SH4 editor with no luck.... I have been working with the particle and particle.dsd files and I see nothing specific about ship fires.....not even in the individual ships files, when I try to link the sound files to parent ID for FIRE BIG,FIRE SMALL,BURNING OIL SMALL it still does not make the ship fires have a burning sound....

2. what is controlling the {ship fire 1} sound file, there are no references to that sound file at all, in the particle.dsd file controlling particle sounds, I went through every one..... but yet it gets used...and I can not locate the source controller stating that sound files name...Ship Fire 1

I also noticed soundsource controller 108 referenced a sound file not even included in the base SH4 1.5 UBM Game sound file name: P15_#Burnning_oil ,when I rename Ship Fire 1 to P15_#Burnning_oil and install in sound files it still has no effect....is this a game engine error?

thanks for the help: gdc3man

Fires, or any damage effects are controlled by the Zones assigned
in the .zon file for each unit.
That points back to the Zones.cfg file.
That points to the Particals.dat
which points to the Materials.dat in most cases.
Your Sound search should end in the particals.dsd and dat.
I think your just missing the finer points
on how to attach the sounds you want.
PM me and I'll get you hooked up.

I dont know much about this and are not sure if iam to any help but ive seen in the zones.cfg file that you can add effects to each zone.

And if iam not totaly wrong thos effects are linked to sound sources also.

When a effect is played the sound for it is also played.

About the missing p15 file. i think its a left over from SH3.
There is many of thos files left in SH4 when they made the game.

Anyway good luck whit your project I hope you fix it.

Edit/ saw that privateer had answerd you while i was typing and searching for an answer
