Default Red ship outlines on map

I see ships that are red on the map when i got a visual on them and zoom in real close, from time to time. What does it mean?

Are you running stock or GWX? If it's stock and they're red squares with a tail on them, those are enemy ships within view of your u-boat. If it's GWX and they're little icons that look like a ship broken in half, they're the location of ships you've sunk.

GWX yes and i am not talking about the little squares but the ship outlines when you're in visual range and zoom in, you know. When you zoom in on the squares close enough, then the squares turn into these thin ship outlines that erm look like ships seen from above.

I have only noticed this recently, maybe it has something to do with me installing community ships and VonDos ships i don't know.

My guess is they're either damaged or armed?

Hi Pepe,

I think you are correct - I suspect it must be the mods you mention.

I run GWX3.0 + SH3 Commander 3.2 + a few GWX3 mods, and my ships regardless of the type, are always the thin black ship outlines. I have never seen red ones before.

Regards,
Dud

I have VonDos ships, but i do not have Community ships, my guess would be, That is the mod that is causing your DEAD RED problem.

The red ship icon in GWX indicates you are within visual range and have positively identified the vessel as an enamy

Thanks jimbuna that's interesting but it makes me wonder though if it is a stock GWX feature then how come no one in this thread has ever encountered these red outlines?

No idea....perhaps this is the first time such a question has been asked.

If no one else has seen these red outlines, maybe the contents of those bottles in the conning tower have fermented.
