DX 11 cards??
Windows 7 has DX11 built in - but most games really haven't made the leap to 10 yet. Because of that - how long will it take card makers to start building DX11 cards?
If I am in the market for a new graphix card, should I wait till cards support 11, since I am definitely going to migrate to 7 as soon as its available (based on my testing)? Thoughts? I ask this because my current card - a X1650 Pro - is about at the end of its rope. It runs stuff - but not great. I will replace it soon - but could hold off another year if its going to be worth it. Anyone got any heads up on DX11 support in forthcoming cards?

The only cards that really support tessellation (The big improvement for DX11) are ATI cards. You will only find that on the 4000 series or above.
NVidia cards will not do it. NVidia had a hard time doing DX10 too, the reason why the DX10 spec was changed. NVidia couldn't nail down the new memory architecture. Are you starting to see why I lean towards ATI now? I speak that as I have a GeForce series sitting in front of me looking for a home. I'll probably dump it in one of my not so used PC's. -S |

According to some, DX11 won't be in Win7 at launch at all.
http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/...ndows-features 1 tip: wait for 2nd gen DX11 hardware. Not long after the first DX10 cards came along, they moved to 10.1. ![]() Give it a little time before you "buy into" it. ![]()

Those cards are huge, huge improvements over the x1650pro. Frankly if you're not using linux I'd get an ATI 4850 (best bang for the buck) and AA has always been superior on ATI cards as well. So you'll get really nice looking games. |

Instead of that GTX260, I'd strongly recommend GTX275. Or at least 260 core 216.
