Found a Japanese sub at harbor. Didn't even know such a thing existed in the game. A quick forum search only turned up 2 threads on the name of the sub, so I thought it may be worth posting some pics....

She's a big bird, ain't she? It would seem that someone in the IJN had a serious case of "Sourcoufitis". I'd hate to have to crash dive that barge when the fan is hitting the poo.
I've managed to sink two Jap SS's in the game, though neither was a Sen-Toku. Both were in RSRDC/TMO, just SSW of Lot's Wife, heading SSE, toward the Marianas. Very satisfying. That is a heck of a find!

Cool! Did you get her?
I saw this post and went lookng through the units in the mission builder-made a mission just so I could sink one! Looking forward to sailing one of these in the IJN campaign! BTW I'm pretty sure if anyone working on a super mod asked Keltos1 he'd be happy to let his assorted Japanese subs be included in the roster of targets....

I've always wondered about the rationale behind these marvelous but ponderous subs. The plan in 1945 was to sail them westward through the Indian Ocean, around the southern tip of Africa, into the Atlantic, then Caribbean and attack the Panama Canal’s Gatun Locks from the east, because it was felt an attack wouldn't be expected from that direction. However, by sailing that route the Japanese proved that a damaged Panama Canal was no hindrance to Allied ship moves to the Pacific other than in time. Plus, by 1945 the vast majority of the US fleet was already in the Pacific so the Canal wasn't that critical anymore. Perhaps if they had available in 1941 they could have made life miserable for the US. But hard targets like canals aren't an easy thing to knock out.
