Default Torpedoing a 1/2 sunken T-Class?

Had an encounter with a T-Class sub yesterday, took him out from behind as suggested by deck cannon.

Shallow water, so his stern hits the bottom, bow pointing up, but just under the surface. No credit for the kill. Can't shoot the deck cannon underwater, so I waited (and waited and waited), nothing happened.

I backed up my boat just over 300 meters, and fired a dumb torpedo - missed wildly.

Is there any recourse in this kind of situation? Kind of a shame to not get credit for a skillful shoot-out .

What is worse is when it's

a King George you sink in shallow water and get no credit.

You only get the renown if you receive the message "She's going down".

AI subs can take a while to sink on occasion.

this is a problem when you sink the Nelson in Gib harbour, she sits on the bottom sticking out of the water.... very frustrating!!!

Thats why i ALWAYS fire a salvo of three torpedoes to battleships.
One on the bow, one dead center and one on the stern.
The ship just blows up sky high.

You can delete double-posts with the "edit" button.

As for the half sunken ships... what are you doing in shallow water anyways? :P

Yeah I know . Usually I skirt the shallows up around Scapa Flow, but I heard a single merchant and ventured south. Then my sonar picks up the T-Class.

I'm well aware of the 1/2 sunken ships in shallow water without credit, but because it was a submarine I couldn't tell if it was only damaged (submerged to avoid deck-gun fire?), or in the process of sinking. It was totally submerged really, just the bow was tickling the surface of the water.

I have a feeling it was very slowly filling with water and would have sunk completely, but I had to get out of there due to a destroyer inbound.

I do alot of reading of 'old' posts here, and am familiar with the various types of 'problems', but this was something I hadn't read about or experienced. Just thought I'd throw it out for you guys to see what other options there would have been to destroy this guy would have been.
