www.uboat.net has just added a new page: The Ten Youngest and Ten Oldest U-Boat Commanders to set out on a patrol.
The youngest was only 20, the oldest 54. Fascinating stuff. ![]()

The big problem Dönitz had was : should he send the most experienced to the front or should they take the lower risks to train the noobs later ?
A hard decision.... A problem every army has in wartime i think.
