Default Radio Log_Expanded: Agents with psychic powers

While on patrol in Sept. and Oct., 1941, I have received several unusual radio messages. These message contain reports from agents that allied convoys have set sail. What makes these messages unusual is that they have been sent anywhere from two days to two weeks prior to the date on which the convoy was reported to have departed by the agent.

It appears as though some of our agents can predict the future. I'm debating trying to contact one of them to find out what fate awaits my boat.

The name of the convoy, the date it sailed, the port it departed, and sometimes other information (such as the number of ships and the type of cargo) is stated in the message.

Axis scientists have apparently made a break-through in time travel. Needless to say there's a nuclear-powered Type XXI waiting for you at the dock when you return.

Here's an example of the kind of message I was describing. The message is copied from RL_E messages_en.txt:
Oberkommando der Kriegsmarine@^Deutsche Kräfte auf See^|Agents Report 1941.10.23:||Convoy SC.51 Departed Sydney CB for Liverpool on 9 November 1941.|Estimate 42 merchants heavy escort.|Oils Ore Sulphur Tinned goods Corn|WORCESTERSHIRE (Br) 11,402 tons AMC

Note that the message is dated 23 October 1941, and the convoy is reported to have departed on 9 November 1941.

I googled SC 51 and according to one source, that convoy departed Sydney on 23 October 1941. It arrived in Liverpool on 9 November 1941.

Little glitches like this don't detract from the fact that RL_E adds tremendously to SH3. It's easy to edit the messages_en file to correct dates, if one is a stickler for historical accuracy.

Whoops, sorry, I think I stole that one. You can rest assured that it works perfectly, however.

Heheh. If the Germans could bring back technology from the future they'd probably toss a few ICBMS and call it a day.

BTW that's one detailed convoy report. Tinned goods, corn, Worcestershire sauce....no wait...WORCESTERSHIRE...thought they were sending BdU the ship's menu for a moment.

Well, it isn't as if convoy sailing dates were totally random. B-Dienst did identify the sailing dates of some convoys, and Donitz directed U-boats to intercept. I don't have my copy of Blair's Hitler's U-Boat War on me right now, but I'm certain that this did occur on more than one occasion.

If you tuck in the word "due" after "Liverpool" it makes sense....doesn't it?

The reason Australia and other nations locked up foriegn nationals was some (albeit very very few) actually were spies. The message could have come from the port of departure for the price of a couple of beers in Woolloomooloo pub and then been radioed in.

The Sydney in the convoy report is located in Nova Scotia. However, I'm sure the beers part still applies tho.

I think rubenandthejets hit it on the head: the second date is when the convoy is expected to arrive at the listed destination. Some others I've seen are a little more clear; it was your misfortune to get that one first.
