Default Are you realy playing D.i.D.???????

In the past week over 900 Captains have viewed this thread where you can
honor your lost U-Boat. Only two of you have reported a D.I.D. incident.

Are we not losing any U-Boats or are we just not reporting them????

Once you report your boat lost at the above thread a printable Death Card
will be added to the thread & sent to BdU Lost Soul registry on the Internet

Heinz Schultz is still alive and stickin' it to the tommies. Jun '41 with 48,000 tons sunk this patrol and still 5 or 6 eels left in the tubes.

Joe Konrad - patrol 20 - just finished a patrol in CA28 - August 1942. Haven't been properly DCed yet, but lost 5 guys to strafing/deck gun incidents. Tonnage so far is 950k, with > 100k in military hardware. I'll post when I buy it (probably in the next 5 patrols).

Don't have screens of my previous careers, and my last two were cut short by improper diagnosis. My current persona isn't dead, so not much point in reporting him.

I've always played DiD, from Silent Service through Aces Of the Deep, Silent Hunter and right up to SHIII. That said, I haven't actually played a real career in almost three years. After two years of not being able to use my computer at all I've spent the last year researching and testing the Ship Names mod, and setting up all the mods the way I want them. I'm actually ready to start playing again pretty soon.

Whether I do or not still remains to be seen.:rotfl:

Sure, I'm playing DiD and at 100% realism, too. I just try not to be careless with the lives of my crew.

What do you want to do to commemorate Kaleuns who retire after long service in a DiD career? I just retired a KvtKpt with 330,892 tons sunk on 14 war patrols.

I think I may have had one DiD death since the thread started. I'll check. If so, I'll add it to the thread.

Edit: No, no deaths since the thread started. 3 patrols, About 35 aircraft attacks, lots of hull damage, a few inconsequential depth charge runs by escorts, one crewman injured, but no boats lost, no commander's careers ended.

I am playing D.I.D but only get to play one or two days a week (hence why my patrols take at least a week IRL to complete).

I am in fact playing D.I.D as I always have with GWX Which is why I have never made it past 1942-43.

I accidentally rammed a dock wall and killed all my crew. Prefer not to let the people know who is fighting for them.

Been there, done that but only after a few glasses of grog.

I crashed into the side of the Kiel Canal once on very high time compression as my exit pattern (auto plot) was misaligned very slightly. It seems being off only a couple of meters can cause an accident. By the time I had recovered the boat was badly flooded and hull integrity was down to 20% (not that I could see it using GWX). I ended mission and they gave me the Iron Cross.

This was the same career actually where so many other strange things happened (see the DiD thread). It is tremendously amusing to be decorated for running aground, then court martialed for attacking a convoy.
