I'm a real late starter with SH3 and need some help. The last sub sim I played was Aces of the deep years ago. SH3 is great but I want to install the SH3_XPSP2_Res_Fix_for 1.4. The readme say's.....I have included d3d9.dll and d3d9.cfg in case you don't already have them.
I don't know where to look for these files to see if I already have them or not. staffy |

Welcome staffy - if you have the files referred to, they'll be in your base SH3 folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII). I'm pretty new too - I use the 'dx9res10' approach for 1600x1200 glory! Good luck!

http://hosted.filefront.com/VikingG/2175571 I run vista sp1 and it worked great 'out of the box'! Here's the top of its readme.txt: --------------------------------------------------------- ·: DX9res v1.0 :· --------------------------------------------------------- This DLL attempts to override the screen resolution set by a Direct3D 9 program. To install, extract this archive to the directory the program is installed to. Do NOT install the DLL into any system directories. Edit the cfg file for resolution and other settings. Note that some games have copyprotection systems that block this DLL from working, so if you want to use this with such games you need to remove the protection first. |

Oh it's the same as Staffy is using (d3d9.dll and d3d9.cfg), I thought you were referring to something different, I use the same!

As 9emini says, although I don't know about the dx9 thing he mentions, go to your SH3 root folder. I don't remember if versions of the dll and cfg files are already there. But make backup copies if they are, just in case. Drop in the included dll and cfg files, and run the res fix batch file ... called something like resfix_install. Set the cfg file res line to the res you want to play in (I don't recall offhand what it's default is). You should then be able to start up SH3 in that res.
