Hi and Damm!

Hi all, old Subsim member returning after a long patrol.

Used to be a member of Subsim back in the old SH2 days with Destoyer Command.

Bought SH3 the day it came out and have been playing it vanilla on and off since then, but have recently been playing a lot and started reading the forums here again about a month ago.

So read all about the new GWX3 mod and was looking forward to getting it installed but since i was halfway through my career in mid 1942 wanted to wait till the war ended before i reinstalled.

So got to about late 1943 beginning of this week and was getting the hell beaten out of me by Aircraft! Destroyers were becoming bothersome as well but the damm Bombers and fighters just kept popping out of nowhere all the time and ALAAAARM seemed to be the call of the hour.

So got to last night and decided sod it, i'm going to reinstall and put GWX3 in the mix and start fresh as the temptation was getting to big to ignore.

So before i went to work i uninstalled SH3 and went to reinstall, but PC would not recognise my disk and said it was unreadable, tried several times and it just would not read it??

The disk is imacculate or so i thought, not a scratch or a finger print on it. But on closer examination there are 2 small cracks about 5mm long going out from the hole in the middle of the disk and the SH3 label has started to peel of the disk at this point.

DAAAAMMM! How did that happen? I suppose it's just happened with use as i always look after my game disks. But strange how the disk still worked right up to the point of reinstall :hmm: ( It's a starforce proteced disk so in use every time i played SH3 which is alot).

So here i am with no SH3 at all.

Checked about and could not find any UK sites that sold download versions of SH3 and US sites would not let me D/Load. So have ordered a new hopefully Starforce Free Disk and should hopefully have it by Saturday. Still i suppose it gives me more time to read the GWX manual.

Will let you all know when i start my new GWX3 career.

I have to say that of all forums i am a member of this one has the most polite and helpfull members i have seen.

One Favour i could ask of any of you that might know is, what is the best program to use to get a basic Signature made up? I Have no experiance with art programs and no clue how to do anything fancy like some of you guys have so just looking to find something for a novice to use. I have a Good Sig for my Flight Sim Forum but that was made up by an old friend that i have no contact with now, so it looks like i need to learn how to do it myself.

Ahoy! Sorry to hear about your disk, hopefully you won't have to wait too long to get GWX up and running.

For sigantures, Paint.NET and GIMP are two excellent (And free) image programs. I've used both, and they're as good as Photoshop in most aspects.

Hi and welcome Nemisis

Sorry to hear about your disk, had the same cracks a while ago. Think they came from the DVD case being "to tight".

As said above Paint.net is a good and free prog.

First of all thanks to Weiß Pinguin and Lzs von swe for your suggestions . I will be checking them out ASAP and also thanks to the great Jimbuna for the Welcome and thanks for the GWX Mod. You and your Team have got my thanks for all the work you have put into you Mod.

Secondly fantastic news my new copy of SH3 arrived THIS MORNING!! I only ordered it at 15:45 yesterday and it was on my door matt by 10:00, Super service from that Ebay seller !! So i have installed SH3, GWX and SH3 Commander.

Unfortunately i work a Twilight shift 16:00 till 00:30 so apart from launching the game up to the menu screen to make sure it installed ok, I have as yet not seen all the GWX Goodness that awaits me.

First Patrol leaves at 01:15 AM Saturday morning or sooner if i can get home earlier.

Wish me luck, from what i've heard about GWX realism settings i'm going to need it.

Nemisis,

Welcome back to Subsim. As Jimbuna likes to say:

Be more aggressive!!

By the way, if you need a signature made and don't have the time to do it, I could put something together for you. All I'd need is a image you'd like (or just an idea of what you want), text to appear, and colors/effects etc.

Cheers,
