Default downed flyer?

Just picked this game up, (SHIV 1.5) I am out in my trusty and rusty s-18, throwing wrenches and whatever is available at the millions of japanese airplane. (makes SHIII 1945 for the germans seem simple) ( I have no AA so it seems) and there are downed japanes pilots once in awhile. Why I don't know,, surely not from me.
Can I pick them up? how?
I have also pulled up on downed American pilots, How do I rescue them?

I´m not completely sure of this, since I have never tried it myself yet but if I remember correct from another thread, you can only pick up your own pilots/sailors. This is done by driving up to them slowly (within 3 Nm) and then look at them with your binoculars. When doing that, there should be an option however you wanna pick em up...

No you cant pick up japanese pilots.

If you find the amount of air patrols in the game unberable as most of do you may wish to take a look into mods.

Default Downed American Pilots

When you see the pink smoke signal, move toward it. It will tend to drift with the currents and wind. When you get withing about 100 yds, All Stop. Using your binoculars on the bridge, sight the pilot bobbing in the water. The "Rescue Pilot" icon will light and the "+" crosshair in the binocular will turn RED. Click on the icon and the pilot will be rescued. If you don't know how to access the binoculars, while on the bridge, zoom using the mouse wheel and your binocular view will come up. Old_tex
