Congratulations to the 99 winners of the 2008 Mystery Subsim Challenge. You are in the prize pool. Here's how the prize disbursement works!

There are 99 winners (no one guessed MS#95 correctly), each winner has a number assigned in the order he won. Each business day, starting with Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at the close of the market, I will copy the last two digits of the Dow Jones Index Average and the person with the corresponding number wins that day's prize pack! Some prizes will have a Choice A and Choice B.

The winner must claim his prize in this thread, so winners, check the thread daily. No claim, no prize.

I will post the prize pack the evening before, so #1 prize pack will be posted and then at the end of the next day, when the DJIA closes, the winner will be announced. This will be clear after you see how it works Monday.

Claim your prize by posting in this thread soon after (within a day or two, three max).

The Dow Jones number will be pulled after the market closes using the number posted on the Wall Street Journal Online: http://online.wsj.com/public/us

So, for example, the closing number on Friday Jan. 2 is: DJIA 9034.69
So the winning number is: 69 Syxx_Killer Then Syxx_Killer would make a reply claiming his package "Hey, I won!"

Please note, if for some reason I do not post a prize package one day, then there will not be a drawing the next day. I do not anticipate this happeneing but in case I am on my yacht and cannot get a satellite connection, I am giving myself this out.

If you guess correctly, your name is added to the prize pool. You can have as many correct guesses as you can manage, they do not count against your three guess limit.

If you reach five correct guesses in the contest, you are considered an Ace* and will get a bonus entry into the prize pool.

*That means: if you are an Ace and your number wins you a prize, you are eligible to win a second prize if your number matches the Dow Jones' closing number.

I'm not sure I understand. If the Dow closed at 9034, how does that translate to #69 being the winner? Wouldn't it be #34?

And what happens if the Dow closes at 9034 and then 9134? Does #34 (or #69) win twice?

Good questions. The last two digits I am referring to are the hundreths place, not the tens place. So the DJIA would close at something like 9034.25 not 9034

And yes, if the market closes with identical numbers during this period of prize determination, if the person holding that number is an Ace, he will get his bonus prize. Each person can win once, except those with 5+ correct guesses, they can win twice.

EDIT: If the market closes with identical numbers during this period of prize determination, and the number is not held by an Ace or if the person has won his 1 prize, we can then move to the amount the DJIA changed, and if that hits a previous winner, we move to the percent change. If that hits a winner, we skip that day.

So, as an example, on 1/2:

........Close .........amount changed........ percent change
DJIA* 9034.69 ----- 258.30 ------------- 2.94%
