Default Career CTD

So the last couple of weeks my careers have started crashing on me. The scenario: I'm in port, after finishing up my last patrol in August, and all is well... But as soon as September 1st rolls around, Wasserbomben! - my computer crash dives to desktop while loading the patrol. This started a couple of weeks ago - or atleast that's when I noticed it, as I hadn't been playing much until then. I also hadn't changed or added in any files, but I decided to try reinstalling SH3/GWX anyways. (Actually I just cleared out my GWX install and copied the files over from my virgin vanilla SH3 folder) Still no zigarre.

By then GWX 3.0 was so close to release that I decided to wait for that. Loaded it up, and all seemed well... Until of course I got to September 1st. (Wasserbomben! ) I made a test career starting in September to see if my computer might implode, but all I got was another crash to desktop. I haven't tried starting later or skipping past September to see if that would work, just because GWX takes approximately 24 hours to load on my computer, and I don't have the patience to sit through several days of loading when I can just ask for ideas.

I tried searching, but, well, the search function goes kinda all over the place whenever 'crash' or 'career' are keywords.

Here's a screenshot of the error message, if it helps:

Anyways, sorry for rambling on confuzzledlike, hopefully some of all that makes sense. :p

Ah, 'kay, I'll try that out. I guess I'll random crush depths as well, while I'm at it.

If that all doesn't work I guess it's off to defrag and officially reinstall SH3. And then defrag some more.

If it crashes now?
You can rename the SH3 folder in My Documents
and start over.

Well, just crashed on me again. I've deleted the GWX folder in My Documents several times now, with each new career I tried and GWX 3.0 install to no avail. (Using MultiSH3)

Yes, and yes.

I decided to go ahead and do a full reinstall, right now I'm letting the hard drive defragment overnight. If the problem still pops up I think I might have to break something... :hmm:

I once rolled-back SH3 commander, and not uninstall it right after. It broke SH3 so bad, I had to re-download it from steam, which was an abnormal pain in the arse. Did you do anything like that?

Well, finished my first patrol with a clean 3.0 install with no problems, I'm going to skip ahead and see what breaks.
