Default Longer Wintergarten in IX D2?

Kaleuns,

when I compare the length of the "Wintergarten" of a SH III type IX D2 with pictures taken from original subs, it looks to me as if it is too short.

Even the conning tower of a IX D2 from SH IV is a lot longer than the one from SH III and seems to me to be closer to the real thing.

Is there a way to get the Wintergarten longer? Can the conning tower of a IX D2 from SH IV be modified in a way that it can be used in SH III?

Please excuse me for being so much into little details!

Cheers, Kurfürst

What you are asking is for somebody to remodel the sub.....a lot of work involved here

A good Blue Print or scale drawing goes a long ways
to induce modelers to do this type job.

Old photos are subject to many distortions.
Angle of the shot,
Which Lens was on the Camera,
etc.

Reworking the 3D model is not to bad.
Stretch if need be and re-UV it.
Then import.

But Positive proof is needed 1st.

Hi Privateer,

I could provide a scaled drawing of the conning tower, taken from the book "Geschichte des deutschen U-Bootbaus" / History of German U-Boatbuilding.
Unfortunately, I don´t have the ability to work with a 3D modelling software to rebuild or modify the existing model.

If there´s somebody out there who´s got the time and patience to rework the conning tower, I´ll gladly provide drawings, photos and at least two boxes of Beck´s beer!

Cheers, Kurfürst
