I just got a new ATI 4870x2 and it plays SH3 good but the text in game looks kinda corrupted or maybe in a weird font. Does anybody know about this? I am using the newest catalyst driver 8.11

Haven't tried it meself, but understand the XP Tweak UI utility can repair some corrupted Windows fonts. However, my first thought is that it might be Catalyst, in which case, would be useful if you can roll back to or obtain an earlier version of the driver, to see if that corrects it, before you start 'tweaking'.

No the Tweak Ui is probably not here, but if you google it you should find it easily enough.
To roll back the driver you go to Device Manager ( r-click on My Computer, scroll to Properties, l-click , l-click on Hardware tab, l-click on Device Manager,l-click on + next to display adapter to expand the tree,r-click on the name of your adapter, scroll to Properties,l-click on driver tab, l-click on Roll Back driver). If that button is not available, meaning you cannot roll back to the previous driver, then you will need to download the previous version from the ATI site or the web. |

try the rollback if you had a previous Catalyst for that series, otherwise see if it will let you install from the CD without uninstalling the current driver( it might not).
You can also try the update driver button in properties, and put the CD in, but then Windows might tell you that you already have the best driver available because it sees the CD driver is older. If you uninstall the current graphics driver and reboot, it is possible that Windows will again want to install a driver for you, so keep the CD in the drive when you reboot, hopefully it will look there first, or wait for you to tell it where to go... ![]() If you can get the machine into the state where Display properties tells you the Adapter is unknown, then you can put whatever graphics driver you want on without interference. |
