Hi all,
I am having a lot of problems with game stability - corrupt game saves, sound problems and crashes. I believe the problem is sound related - at some point in a mission/career the background sound (sub interior if below decks, or weather if on the bridge) will continue playing stuck in a loop if the game is paused. It even plays on the save game menu. I don't use SH3 Commander or the mod enabler. I don't use any super mod, and have made a number of small mods over the years, however, since they have worked for some time, I can eliminate most as a cause (I think). Recent changes were to the sound .dll (I went back to the old one), and the campaign files via the mission editor. In the latter case, the files passed the validation (except for some units too close together, but it has always been that way). Finally, here's the error message I get from windows (sometimes) prior to it shutting down: App Name: sh3.exe App. Version: 1.4.0.1 Mod Name: sound.act Mod Ver: 0.0.0.0 Offset 00006c13 Can anyone figure out what is wrong, and what I might do to fix? I really don't want to have to re-install if I can avoid it, and have to start all over again. But, since the game is basically unusable as it is, this is my final plea for a solution before I dump it and start over. ![]() ![]() Good hunting, Redbear |

Hmmmm....
![]() ![]() It seems like you have some problems with the mods (if you are using JSGME) You see , it depends where you putting your mods in JSGME , from top to bottom Ok, here's mine mods : 1) - GWX 2,1 Minorfix's 26th April 2) - Community Units 3) - Visible U-Marker 4) - BB Warspite 5) - GWX-captain Americas Officer Icons 6) - CapZapEmblemsPack_Final 7) - Improved Wave textures 8) - 16k Green Atlantic 9) - Lifeboat & Debris_v3B 10)- Rowers_for_Lifeboat&debris_v3B 11) -ENV-Water_stream_and_exhaust_smoke Ok, these are working very well in my game,. But , if I take nr 11, and put it in the top , it sure makes trouble ![]() then you have a lot of trouble . And if I put nr.2 and put it where the number 5 is , it will make conflicts . Allright , then we had talk about mods . What sort of graphic card are you using:hmm: Maybe you need som other drivers . Show us your pc system , then it is much easier to know where the poblem is ok?? |

Hi StarLion, thanks for the reply. System specs.:
Intel P4, 2.53GHz, runnibg Windows XP Home 1G RAM NVIDIA GForce4 ti 4600 video card Sound Blaster Audigy DF80 sound card It's an older system, but until recently it has run SH3 very well. I don't use the mod enabler, so I can' really list all the mods I've made. It may be a cumulative effect of mods in a particular sequence as you suggest. Most recent changes would have to be Diving Duck's bouys and LifeboatandDebris v2, in that order. I did not make the sound change (.dll) for the lifeboats, since it was already changed for the bouys. That's why I'm leaning toward a fresh install and modding again one at a time. I don't want that set back, so I'm hoping someone can get a clue from the error message. Thanks for your help! RedBear |

If I were you, I would start over again and use JSGME. I would also make a fresh install of SHIII/1.4b and burn it to a DVD to make reinstall easy and quick. GWX 3.0 GOLD will be released in the near future. At that time I would make a fresh install of SHIII/1.4b/GWX3.0 and burn it to a DVD.

Start afresh and use JSGME.
Add one mod at a time and run the game to check prior to installing the next mod. I know it will be a chow on but the game isn't working/running correctly in its present configuration, so what do you have to lose. |
