This is a minor issue but I thought I'd ask.
When putting my crew to Battlestations, as you would expect, everyone shows up at their posts including the Damage Control guys working their wrench-bending magic on stuff that isn't busted yet ![]() When standing-down from Battlestations the crew all return to their respective posts (i.e. disappear from their BS positions) but the Damage Control team remain diligently cranking away until I give them a seperate command to stand-down. Is their a way to fix this via a mod or a config file (i.e. have the DC guys stand down at the same time as the rest of the crew)? It's not a show stopper I'm just curious. thanks (yet again) for the assistance. ![]() Last edited by tomoose; 11-03-08 at 12:37 PM. |

Wait a minute, are you saying that crew members automatically change stations when calling to GQ?
They sure dont in my game! I have to manually select and move crew around as needed. I guess some folks just fill up every avaiable slot... but I dont but havent had one crew member change assignments by themselves ever ! |

They never change slots themselves. What he means is when damage control is enabled(which happens automatically when going to battle stations) there are guys cranking away in the 3d-world, and they keep on rockin' until you tell them not to

That is annoying, aint it? I try to deactivate them while at GQ. Sometimes they stand down, sometimes they wont. It's a jinx haveing those guys wrench away, befor anything even happens. It's like begging for trouble!

.....I should have specified the 3D characters aspect. Didn't mean to get you torqued Steamwake,LOL!!
![]() It's just yet another little but annoying glitch that, I assume, was overlooked (was there ANY QC done on this game prior launch? Sheesh!). I guess I'll just incorporate a "stand down from general quarters" command in SHIV speech. Fish40: that's another good point in that once at GQ you can't switch 'em "off". Now that I think about it, when you go to silent running shouldn't they stop? I'll have to check that but I'm betting there's no change. It's ironic that SH3 didn't animate damage control personnel but had the leaking pipes which would eventually stop once the "notional" damage control part had done it's job. SH4 has the animated damage control personnel but has non-stop leaking pipes which don't stop leaking "graphically" (without a mod anyway) despite the apparent non-stop diligent efforts of the animated DC crew!!! ![]() I do fervently hope if there's ever another sub sim that the company involved (hopefully one that doesn't have an "Ubi" type $$ at all costs attitude) does the smart thing and use some of the serious members of this forum (i.e. the main modders) to do QC on any beta and hopefully avoid silly little glitches like this in the future. Here's hoping. Having said that, there's nothing on the market that can really compare to SH3 and SH4, warts and all!! ![]() |
