Default Tell me why oh why...

Tonight Im cruising to my assigned patrol area in Formosa Straights in mid 1944.

We get spotted by a patrol aircraft and crash dive. During the descent we pick up a DD.

Alter the course to intercept and wholy moly its half the Jap fleet out there, complete with air cover. A dozen ships including some flat tops. Quite a sight.

To make a long story short there is no way were going to get into position submerged for even a long shot on the convoy, we made a dash at flank but the DD's know were there and steamed straight for us, guess the spot plane tipped em off. Better go deep. I even watched one time with external cam the plane make a strafing run on our position while we were at close to 200 feet deep ... whatever. There was no way to execute an attack and not get torn to little pieces by the 3... yes 3 destroyers out pinging away.

We got the hell out of there without a scratch and surfaced some distance away. Got to phone this one in ! ... Wait a minute... we cant?! Uhhh I know how many ships, I know their course and speed, this is important ! "Says here you cant report a convoy unless there in sight" an ensign tells me.

So not only did they get away we dident even get to report them Note to self... make report then dive.

ps; Was "passing thermal layer" taken out in RFB ?
