Default time in port recommendations.

I read, somewhere, that with GWX2.1 and starting my first patrol on August 1st, it is best to set the SH3Cmdr setting to 20 days in port so that after this first patrol (for me a 5 day shakedown in Flotilla 2) I will be able to get back out to sea and be positioned in my patrol area at the outbreak of hostilities.

My question is...what do you recommend I use for the time in port setting for the rest of my career? The 20 day setting seemed to be recommended only for my time between patrol 1 and patrol 2...but no recommendation was made for port call after that.

Honestly I don't know. I let SH3 Cmdr decide the amount of time that I spend in port. I know that if you're starting a career in the Far East you should select a minimum of 55 days to accurately reflect supply shortages, inadequate repair facilities, etc.

Set days in port to random. JScones has used real data to set the days in port as they were in WWII.

OK, thanks guys. I will set my days in port to random after heading out on my 2nd patrol...don't want to miss being at my patrol area when the war starts!

Murr44, I will keep that noted for the Far East campaign.

Thanks, as always.

Random is great. I once returned from a 'dry' patrol in a Type II. I was back at sea again in just five days, and it felt right from that point of view.
