Default Coming Soon: CADC hosted ladders and tournaments!

OneShot has really outdone himself this time. He's installed a mod at the CADC that pretty much does all the admin work for running tournaments for us.

Now all we need to do is use it.

I've already drafted a set of rules for a Sub dueling ladder. It's similar to how Napoleon Blownapart runs the International Dogfighting League, minus some of the more complicated stuff that I hope we won't need. We can have that up and running in a matter of days; we just want to get some early feedback and maybe tweak the Elo parameters a little bit.

There really isn't any limit to what we can do with this. We can host just about any kind of tournament. We can do ladders, elimination, and direct score competitions. We can do duels, teams, force-on-force fleet battles, scenario battles or cooperative skills competitions. Or just about anything else we can think of. The hard work has already been done for us. So if there is a type of competition you'd like to see, let us know. Just post a thread here with the type of competition you want in the subject line (e.g. "FFG v. Kilo Ladder"), and, if someone else has started a thread on a kind of match you'd like to see, post there so we know the OP isn't alone. If players want it, we'll make it happen.

Bottom line: if you want a place for competitve DW matches, but don't feel like membership in a virtual fleet is for you (or if you're a member of a fleet looking to represent your fleet against opponents from another fleet), CADC is going to be the go-to place.

I would LOVE to see some cooporative MP missions as well as some team oriented ones. One on One just isn't a lot of fun for me for some reason.

About a year ago, OneShot, LW, and I were talking about the issues that would come up having competitions with the rather unbalanced DW OOB, and one solution that was floated was coop missions.

The idea would be that you could have teams (or even individuals) go out and play a coop scenario and be rated on their proficiency. Sorta like a Battle E I guess.

Registration is now OPEN.

Just click "join ladder" and you're in.

To issue a challenge, click on an opponent and post your availability to play a match here.

Then just report the score back at the ladder page (the first link).

The board does the rest. Win and climb the ladder, lose and fall down.

Yes, I crave for some MP cooperative missions.

One thing that is not clear is the multiplayer settings.
Should duels where everything is done in manual (including tma) rate the same as duels where we allow automatic tma ?
Furthermore, do all players have to have the same settings, or do we allow players to decide individually wether to use auto or manual tma ?

Thats not really a bug ... once the first match has been played and there is a winner/looser the ranking will be displayed ... at the moment everybody is ranked No.1 due to the fact that all have the same stats.

For settings I defer to ML who is the mastermind behind the Tourny/Ladders ... I'm just the technican working on the machines ...

Btw. aside from competing individually you can start Teams and compete as Teams ...

Except molon is just "1" whereas everyone else is "1="

Edit: I found a bigger bug. Go to http://www.commanders-academy.com/fo...iewladder&id=3, and click on somoene's name. Then select "view public profile".

That's not a bug, it's a ranking. = means "tied." We all start out with a rating of 1000.

Thanks. I knew I was forgetting something.

I've created some default rules. Default meaning you can use other setting if you and your opponent agree.

If this gets large enough, I wouldn't have any problem having a separate ladder for manual TMA matches, but the first thing we need is to get people diving again.

Indeed, about 20 minutes after my post it started working (prior to that the links were 404s). I assumed you fixed it, but if not: Anyway, I think Molon PM'd you but yesterday when we tried to enter the results of a match the attempt to confirm the score (e.g. the second player entered his score) resulted in a database error.

Hmm... I was updating the system last night because the mod creator brought out a new version ... so that might be the explanation. As for the other error could you go through the motions again (challenge, enter stuff and confirm) with ML and if there is an error I need as much details as possible ... if its a DB error it should give you a pretty detailed report about the problem, that I would need to start fixing it.

However, when I did try the various features with ML a few days ago everything seemed to work, including that part where you encountered an error.
