Well fellas, I have been out to see for quite a while, now I figured I could sit back pour a cold one and do a slight review.
So with TMO installed I noticed quite a bit of inactivity, so to complete my tasks I was forced to go into harbors to get my kills. I would like to be able to sit and hunt in a bit deeper water than 50-60 feet, but thats what your stuck with when going into harbors. Is this the normal setup for this mod? I'm on my 3rd tour and haven't seen any difference yet. All is quiet OUT there, but a pain in the ass IN there. Thanx for any help with this lil issue, CD |

In short... no.
You just need richer hunting grounds. "Harbor raids" are an abboration... the game lets you do it and Ill admit I do it. |

Aye Harbor Attacks are shallow
We are in our last patrol of the war, agent insertion Singapore, figured we would sit in a deepest hole, and ambush inbound Convoy.
Patroling Singapore Picket DD found me useing radar,in the rain/fog. We took him out, there were only two mercheys in the harbor sitting ducks sunk.So we patroled SW area nada. with a full load of torps, status report to ComSubPacSW,message: drop off agent ? star grayed out, done! Could not find targets, nothing but planes. Headed for Merak Sunda Strait JAWA. After taking out the picket there, another turkey shoot. Went home w/2 warships,7 merchants down, got "A" Bomb! message,& desk job, after 29 patrols. Not even a pomotion,or kiss my ass ! ![]() ![]() Last edited by donut; 10-11-08 at 12:26 AM. |

I've mentioned this before but you don't actually have to go into a harbour to go harbor hunting.
Just stay in the blue shaded ,comparatively deep, waters "around" the harbors..off to the sides of the main entrance and see what develops.... ![]() Course I'm referring to unmodded versions...I can't say for sure what the major mods feature around harbors...but I would think it is worth a try.

I´m agree, soon or later a ship have to leave or enter in port and you are safer in depth waters.
I doubt that a real life commander would risk the boat and the crew in a harbor hunting.

I love the type IX, so I like to park ca 200-300 Km west of Fremantle and just wait in the deep water. Lots of pray both coming in and out ....

I like checking out the smaller less important harbours, theres usually little or no patrols and if your lucky you can find 1 or 2 ships to sink and with the minimal protection in them you can surface and whip out your deck gun if needed.
