What exactly does the scene.dat controll. The reason I ask is I want an enviroment that closely resembles the ATO. I have alwayse thought that stock did the best job in the aspect of sky color and sea color.
anyways I have tried using TMO without Duci's scene therefore I have all the benefits of TMO but with the enviroment of stock. I also play OM. Since I tried this I have begun a new career and nearing the end of my second patrol, the weather has not changed one bit for near 4 months. Granted the sea state fluctuates a little mostly calm but sometimes rough seas. It is never overcast and no fog. any help on the exact nature of this file and others that might help rectify the situation would be greatly appreciated. |

1. it includes the 3D models
- clouddome - skydome - fog - moon - sun 2. it includes parameter for rendering the scene around the camera point but some of these parameters are obsolete and not in use, dead bodies from SHIII, in SHIV these parameters are set hardcoded and/or comes from other files and being used as input params for shader files.

the scene.dat or the particles.dat things like rain, smoke, and reflections are in particles.dat and things like clouds sky sun and moon are in scene.dat or maybe i got that backwards :hmm: but those are the two files that do all your eye candy stuff |

It allso controls how the weather should look like in different conditions, like rain, clouds, fog, underwater visibility, visibility, which sky-texture should be seen at which time of day, how much reflection there should be on the waves and objects, how the waves should look like at 4 different wave-states. How the clouds shall react to sunlight, in which angle the sun should reflect in the sea and how the sun should move on the sky during daytime, how much the clouds shall reflect in the waves, detail of waves, Etc. etc. etc. Its the file me and Wclear have used most of our time on in combination with the envatl.dat which controls how all colours should look like around the camera, including fog-colours etc. BTW Claybird, if you try the PE4 scene you will notice that the environments change much more frequently than stock SH4. The particles.dat is the file that controls how all things made with particles should look like, smoke, fire, water splashes, explosions etc. Last edited by kriller2; 10-08-08 at 05:21 AM. |

thanks I currently am in debate as to use PE4 or not. I currently am useing it and my crew's visual detection range is shorter than TMO by itself. I am trying to mix and match various parts to get my own desired effect. Thannk you btw for PE4 it is a beautiful mod.
