Default Having Fun With Sasquatch

Have you seen those TV ads from some junk food distributor?...they are kinda funny...and center around a bunch of clueless kids teasing Bigfoot out in the forest... in the end they get their own rear ends kicked.

I was reminded of those ads when quite by accident I found myself in a somewhat similar situation with a Japanese anti-sub ship.

I was in very shallow water trying to get some recon pics. Then this warship detected me and naturally came rushing in at a 90 degree angle. Problem was... my port side was a close as possible to the shoreline so he really couldn't make a run past me.... Only about a quarter of his keel made it past my boat when his bow hit land.

Also he apparently was too "dumb" to circle around and come at me from the bow or stern.

So there he was... he couldn't get his stern over me to drop his ashcans without blowing himself up too. So he kept backing off and rushing in. Time after time. While he was over me and couldn't fire his guns at me , I popped the scope, got the photos and backed out of there until I reached deep water and dropped below a thermal to disappear...leaving behind one frustrated water warrior....

Well....I thought it was rather humorous...

Also your lucky he dident blow up and sink on top of you

Lastly .. only one picket?

Dude you really need to consider some mods :rotfl: :rotfl:

Mods?.... and trade all the fun for unrelenting constant misery?...why?....

...and I got to deep water by backing out of the harbor where the picket whet back on his patrol route and left me alone.

...and yes I kept waiting for him to call his buds but they stayed way ..but I ain't crazy enough to complain 'bout that..

Ah...Thats the reverse side of the coin....I couldn't get enough arming run distance without risking the loss of my protective shoreline.

Don't think I did't have all tubes fore and aft set for less than 5 feet draft and all tubes opened and ready ...

If I had been able to take him out it would have required a much smaller time investment in completing the mission. I couldn't risk much TC with things that tight...and so it was a drawn out affair.

This episode also reminded me of an incredible true story that occured around the Frigate Shoals area, early in the war, if I recall the events correctly. It has been some time since I read about the tale.

The Japs detected an American sub in fairly deep but very clear water. They could look over the side and see it clear as day. Instead of blowing it up with depth charges they "went fishing " for it with a crane on some kind of tender, equiped with a hook on the crane's cable.

They actually managed to hook the sub and were playing it, reeling it in just like a fish on a rod and reel.. Luckily for the sub it finally managed to break off and escape.

So even if improbable things happen in game..it doesn't necessarily mean they are impossible. Truth can indeed be every bit as strange as fiction.

...guess I ought to be glad the developers didn't think to mod "fishing" tackle in the enemy's arsenal.

:rotfl:And all this time I thought the cranes on the back were for recovering aircraft. I should have paid more attention in history class.:rotfl:.

[__________________________________________________ ______] That big?

Ok, where are the files to get the crane working, we have a new MOD here. Submarine fishing Beta 1.

"So, how was your day fishing?"
"Had a Gato on, but he broke the line."

Yep...I certainly would relish reading the ship's logs or the Skipper's after action report on that one....

For the life of me, I could never figure out how to auto run Apple's Quicktime Movies within your browser. Sorry for the hassle[s].

Anyway:
I kind of like the Buzzer one and the Shaving Cream one as the best.
