I was just curious if anyone knows if anything can be modded ti allow the rumbling of the engine sounds to play on the map screen without having to turn on the 3D window. I find it odd to switch to the map and suddenly have everything totally quiet. Same thing with Sub Command as well. It's not a big deal, but getting the audio to play there as well will do wonders for my imersion factor.

Well it's sound of the model you are viewing in the map, not your sub. If you only want to hear your sub, turn the 3d sound off in settins. Then there will be no change if you turn the map on or off and you will hear much more silent hum of your own ship, all the time.

You misunderstood me. I keep the 3D view off. When the 3D view is on, you get the sound of the platform in the 3D view but since I don't use the 3D view, I don't care about that. Just when on the map screen with the 3D window shut, I'd like to hear the ambient sound of my sub's engines like I hear in all my other sub panels. As it is, when I'm at every station on my sub, I hear the hum of the engine but when I go to the map, the sound is gone. I'd like to hear the sound of the engines when looking at the map instead of feeling like I'm looking at the tactical map in a sound deprivation chamber that only enemy sonar pings can penetrate.
