Starshatter TGS
Some of you may have an interest in this game. Yes - its a space sim - with ALOT of potential. Relatively easy to mod - there are a number of conversions out currently and I am getting my hands in the workings so you know its not hard to muck about with it. Starshattermods.com seems to have a reasonable and mature group - though it is small. There are Battlestar Galactica conversions currently - TOS and TNG both - as well as some work on some star wars conversion. I personally see a possibility for both Wing Commander and Star Trek as well.....
If you enjoy a good space sim - this has potential. Play as a fighter pilot, capital ship captain, or fleet commander (with the requisite tactical freedom). If your enjoy a good space sim and enjoy modding - this has LOADS of potential. Universe conversion, etc. Just thought I would share, see if a few others might enjoy it.

I played it once, I liked the idea, but it just was a bit meh.
Fighters were ok, but it got a bit old and ship combat was a bitch to figure out. I'm sure its a good game, it just seemed like the devs tried to make it into so many different things at once that none of it was particularly good. Also the dynamic campaign, doesn't really feel dynamic, the only thing really dynamic is getting to choose your own missions, and if you lose one or two ships then the campaign goes "game over sucker" |

Thats kind of why I hope to see some of the talent here investigate it. It was created by a single guy - destroyer studios is a one man show. I am modding it currently to give it a closer "feel" - shortening ranges, etc. The stock campaigns are not really dynamic - but it looks like it COULD have a full, dynamic universe.
The stock game does do some weird things, but since it is so modable (think a jsgme type module built in!) there is alot of ability to make it play like you want, without alot of hassle.

The thing is, I looked at that starshatter mods thing and none of the mods there looked very good, but honestly I only mod a game if its a total conversion.

There is a small mod that fixes that - works very well - haven't had a single fighter lost since using it. It also fixes a minor graphical error on cruisers as well.
