Default Happy New Year Boys!!!

December 31, 1943
2300 hours
Canary Islands
Grid DH56

U-202

We have successfully penetrated the screen of a large hunter killer task force and fired a spread of four torpedoes at a Bogue Class Escort Carrier. The carrier took two hits and listed hard to port. After about 15 minutes several secondaries and sinking sounds were heard. Evaded escorts. will surface soon and examine debris.

Happy New Year Uncle Karl!

From the Crew of '202

Happy New Year, Herr Kaleun!!

But Herr Kaleun, you are mistaken. It's not New Year yet, it's only April. And the year is 1942. :rotfl:

Greetings from U 104.

Well U-202 is finished after 5 patrols.

Radar warning picked something up, we submerged and to our surprise it wasnt an airplane... but instead a destroyer closing in on us.

we went deep and outmaneuvered him on every pass but after taking some light damage i popped up and fired a stern shot with my Falke torpedo.

it found its mark and sunk the bastard. but not before he had made a call for help.

a hunter killer group loomed on the horizon, i went back down to 220 meters and turned tail.

i thought i had it licked but they found me.

out maneuvered several depth charge runs and several hedgehogs at 220 meters until one of those little bomlets finally hit us. it became apparant that the sub was not going to hold together at 220 meters as the lights flickered and bolts popped.

i came back up to make a last stand and sink one of them, but it was no use, by now there were 3 black swans in my periscope and 2 other escorts i didnt take the time to ID.

I dashed to the hatch and ordered all charts, code books and communications burned.

the chief engineer saw to the placement of scuttling charges.

My radio man took a fire axe to the enigma machine and scattered its parts.

we circled and dodged depth charges for another ten minutes while U-202's final moments played out.

finally i surfaced to a storm of gunfire in the early light of dawn, the scuttling of the sub was quite disorganized but only one man was lost in the effort.

with a rumble, the scuttling charges finished off U-202, and she sank by the stern.

The commander of the sub, KaptLt. Max kimmelmann and his valiant crew spent the remainder of the war in a POW camp in Scotland.

this career spanned from 22July 1943 to 13 February 1944.

total haul during 5 patrols was 55,331 tons

Here's hoping they're able to get accustomed to haggis and porridge. :hmm:
