Hi Commanders, i'm thinking about the rudder efficiency in SH3..
I realized in SH3 we have the same rudder efficiency in ahead and back run. Moreover, the rudder ability to turn our ship is not proportional to the power applied. So... there is a way (a mod?) to improve the turning ability of the rudder in ahead running and decrease it in back run? And, there is a way to improve the rudder efficiency proportionally to propellers power? thanks, s |

a mod may be needed! I made some turning test: all U-boats in SH3 turn in a 100m radius at rudder 40°! indipendently by speed.
I saw in NSS_uboatXX.sim (submarine folder) there are two parameter under unit_Ship that we can adjust: drag prop_fact all value are set to 0.05, but increasing them the turn behaviour can be changed.. Now i'm searching in the Web for information about U-boats turning (but maybe it's impossible to collect these such of infos) ......a mod on horizon?? |

I didnt get anything....... but if you want to change the coefficient factor for a propeller you should download silent 3ditor and then change a specific file in the uboat folders.
You must play with the coefficient and see if they satisfy you. |

thanks, yes I did by using SH3ditor, if I set 10 as value the boat becomes almost ungovernable!
does anyone know the turn radius of a U-boat?? |
