Default Lock Ewe in '44?

So I'm lovin' my XXI, although since the crashed game I haven't had the chance to take on a convoy. The large convoys all have 6-8 escorts, which is too many for me to safely handle. That leaves me with 6 homing torps, and a diminishing supply of regular torps. What to do?

Then it dawned on me- homing torps would make harbor raids a joke. So why not consider going for the big boys at Lock Ewe? Even if there are 4-5 defenders, they're just meat on the table for my homing torps.

So, does anyone have any experience trying to raid Lock Ewe late in the war? If so, how many defenders, where are the nets and where are the mines? If not, maybe I'll consider a lesser port that has easier access. It just seems like it would be a waste to use up my regular torps and end up shooting my homing torps at random patrolling destroyers. Going for Lock Ewe is either genius or the dumbest thing I've ever thought of.

I never raided Loch Ewe but around '41 I raided Scapa flow (I'm using GWX 2.1)
there where about 4-5 DD's, I was hoping to find a cruiser or a battleship but the largest thing I found was a floating dock.

As a rule of thumb enemy harbours are difficult to raid especially late in the war. In GWX it is particularly difficult so if you try to get in the lagoon (even with a XXI) be prepared for a heavy counter attack and (possible) death

My suggestion? Stick with convoys they're much safer

If you open up the campaign_SCR you will find the odd Nelson appearing from time to time late war but you will also see the delights awaiting any such U-boat incursions.
