Default Vista and SH3 resolution problems

I've been trying to get the resolution fix which has been reported on several occasions to actually work, to allow me to use another resolution aside from 1024x768 which SH3 defaults to. I can't get it to work though, I literally cannot get SH3 to be in any other resolution than 1024x768.

I just copied the d3d9.dll and the d3d9.cfg files to the SH3 main folder and then edited the x and y values. I've tried different values, nothing seems to work. Does anyone have a solution?

Hmmm. I have Vista, and I haven't had any problems with the res patch.

I do have SH3 installed OUTSIDE program files though, as vista's clever file virtualisation can make things tricky.

If the folder is inside program files, try moving it elsewhere, then set up the res fix again. (you should be able to do this without an un-install/re-install, just fix your shortcuts later)

I've gotten it to work on Vista 64-bit. I edited the security permissions on the SH3 folder from the get go to give everthing in the users list full permissions an that solves any problems. That way you won't have to uninstall/reinstall.
