Default Where is the Home Fleet ?

Where should we go and when to find big battleships ?

I'm in the Scapa Flow sector on september 22, 1939 and I'm waitting for some battleships.
Normaly they must go soon in the North Sea to fight against the Gneisenau.
But nothing on the horizon...

Same question for the rest of the war. Any website with movements of the Home Fleet ?

I use GW 2.1 too , (only had a couple of crashes when saving or loading some saves with GWX 2.1 which i would really like to solve , my version is freshly installed with no mods , but otherwise it's really great expansion ) , i had the same interrogations about warships , i was wondering where i could find some other than at Scapa Flow , until i encountered a Bogue Class aircraft carrier yesterday in the Atlantic , toward December 1942 , escorted by 4 destroyers , i could sink him because i was extremely lucky , making a sort of kamikaze attack in rough sea despite a destroyer pinging me , and sunk the a/c carrier with only one electrical magnetic torpedo exploding just next to his "propeller" and fired at less than 400 meters from him , was really a lucky shot made hastily , it took lots of time for him to sink ,his escort DD were crazy about me and almost got me with DC before he finally sunk and i got the confirmation message .

I have to say nothing is more satisfying than sinking a war ship , i'm kinda feeling bad when i sink civilian ships thinking about the poor dozens guys who drown , whereas a warship , it's kinda different since the military personel on board knows the risks and wouldn't hesitate to kill me . I'd also like to know appox where i can find some , so if anyone can give us some hints , it would be really kind

One thing i'd like to know too , as i re-installed SH3+GW2.1 just a few days ago after more than a year not playing , is if there is "life" in the pacific Ocean with Japanese and American warships etc.. just to know if it's worth going to the Pacific ocean in southern Asia as it takes time to sail there even in 2048 speed , cheers

For "Big Game" in that period of the war, try the area west of Shetland/Orkney/Hebridies. The RN was too smart to send capital ships into the North Sea and within reach of land based airpower unless it really had no alternative (like in the Med.). This ain't no WW1.

If you are patient and lucky, you should eventually find a task force of 1xDD and 2xAMC patrolling between Faroes and Hebridies. They're not capital ships but it's a lot of easy tonnage. You just have to find 'em...

Am I in the right sector to intercept some battleship when they will go out find the Gneisenau or must I go elsewhere ??

Look in the SH3 Mission Editor. SCR Layer. That will tell you where every scripted ship is in the entire game. But you'll need patience - there are a lot of them.
Ok thanks Steve, I try to watch.

This is the best page we found when we scipted most historical traffic.
http://www.wlb-stuttgart.de/seekrieg/39-08.htm#SEP
I am the one who was resposible for all scripting and as far as I know I scripted all big war ship traffic in our mod, also in september '39.

From your picture, you're on the wrong side of the Orkneys, if you do that same thing at the same distance to the west you have a much higher chance of finding warships, and AM36 is close by, that is also a hotspot...

all you're going to find where you are now is merchants and angry DDs
