sh3 commander problem: grid 0 and can't be changed

hi there!
just tried to continue my 2nd patrol when sh3 commander suddenly shows "patrol grid Null" - have no idea why cause i didnt change anything (no mods changed - nothing!) . Just saved somewhere in the ocean and that's all. Use GWX 2.1 (what else?) and latest sh3 commander.
I was ordered to go to BF13 which was correctly shown by sh3 commander when I started this patrol in Brest. So I saved far away from my home base last night. And now this - if I try to type in BF 13 before loading the sim via sh3 commander, this doesn't change from "null" to "BF 13" . Why? Is this a sh3 commander bug?

Where do I find the patrol grid in sh3 commander and how can I change it to get my current patrol loaded again?
I checked the search function but obviously nobody in this forum had this prob before, so please support me.
thanx

Try loading into the game without launching SH3 commander. The information from commander is already saved so SH3 should recognize where you are suppose to be. I've run into this problem as well, and that has always worked for me. I hardly ever launch from commander, I just save my choices and exit then run the game normally. Hope this helps, if not, I'll see if I can assist you further.

It really doesn't matter because you do not get any extra renoun for reaching your assigned patrol grid, or patroling it for 24 hours, using GWX 2.1.

Your correct there.
But in real life you were assigned a patrol area,
and were expected to patrol that area.
It was your duty.
As in real life, you get no renown for doing your duty.
So it's still a problem that needs fixed
cause I've never read of a U-Boat being assigned to patrol
NULL.

Quite on the contrary Privateer. In the game renown is the system of money, but in real life, renown means fame. I believe there are more than a few u-boat kapitans whose names are still held in the highest regard, simply for doing their duty. (Ala Prien sinking the Royal Oak.)

Well in reality renown was linked with tonnage or acts beyond the call of duty. Nevertheless the renown system in SH3 is rubbish in my opinion as it is directly linked with the upgrades you get and it is biased towards enemy warships instead of enemy merchants.

Exactly, you can go out and sink an entire convoy with your IX or hit a task force and sink a BB and carrier, either way, you don't really get anything out of it.

If your playing GWX2.1 try going to:

C:\Documents and Settings\Jim\My Documents\GWX\data\cfg\Careers\career name

Open the Patrols_0 CFG and try changing:

[INIT]
Patrols=1
Size=75
[PATROL 000]
PatrolNumber=0
StartYear=1939
StartMonth=12
StartDay=1
StartHour=2
StartMin=22
EndYear=0
EndMonth=0
EndDay=0
EndHour=0
EndMin=0
RealYear=2008
RealMonth=7
RealDay=19
RealHour=14
RealMin=28
StartLocation=752
EndLocation=752
SubType=2
SubVersion=0
SubName=U-52
PatrolArea=AM77 <--- Change this

No guarantees this will work mind

Seeing that you were at sea when you did this, did you change both the Patrols_0.cfg file and the Patrols.cfg file?

In Patrols_0.cfg you have to change the setting of the second to the last patrol, which is always the patrol that has the same number as the very last patrol in the Patrols.cfg file.

The last patrol in the Patrols_0.cfg file is your NEXT patrol, if you make it that far...
