Default Poll: How consistant is your tonnage production?

In my last career, I work the sea lanes dilligently, and made consistent numbers every patrol. In a previous career, I travelled to different parts of the world and got drastically different results from patrol to patrol. In my current career in the Med, my numbers are consistant but low.

Generally quite consistent. I had a bump in my last patrol, but that's mostly because of the poor area I patrolled (and some bad aiming on my part). Generally, I find that skill aside, patrol location is the biggest factor in getting consistent tonnage. Hunting the middle of the South Atlantic, for example, isn't going to offer much to even the best Kahleun.

I'm generally very consistent, excepting test patrols, and excepting last night

where I had about 20k tons in various American merchants plus anoth 25000 or so in neutral passenger liner....

Either I don't get anything.
Or I waste 8 torps trying to hit 2 ships.

I never get more than 50k and have never hit a capital ship.

*edit* thats a lie, I hit the Nelson, but it was from 250m range and the 4 torps never detonated.

I didn't see her until I went up-periscope right next to her and then it was to late to maneuver.

Clunk....clunk....clunk....clunk.
That was a year ago.

Thank you for letting everyone here know that talk is indeed cheap. Otherwise your 11,000+ posts would have cost you quite a fortune. Thank you for the information.

Often it's "feast or famine" for me. My last patrol was really quite "lucrative": encountered a 4 ship convoy in BF 16 (June 1941) & I sank the whole lot (AA ship escort included) in 18 minutes real time. Never managed that before...

i tend to get reasonably consistant tonnage by patrolling down the western area of ireland and hitting the task forces and big convoys.
my fav one was when i disabled the nelson with one fish, all the others missed completely. it was terrible weather and i was 4k away, couldnt see crap and i just fired all my fish off that i had left (educated calculations ofc) all missed but one.
must of hit her engines or whatever. after the escorts had left me alone i got close and saw her listing heavily, i came about and slammed my 2 aft eels into her and she went down.
