Default EN9600GT Graphics Card - what settings do you use?

Hi Karleuns,

I have just installed the NVIDIA EN9600GT graphics card and I am unable to make it work with SH-3. I am running Vista with 32bit. I am currently basic SH-3 with 1.4 patch and nothing else (once I get it working I will install the GWX upgrades). My system keeps crashing (apart from museum and academy) and I am sure this is because I have the wrong settings for the card. Any advice greatly appreciated but please keep it simple.

what nForce drivers are you using? The latest? How is it crashing and what happens when it does crash? Do you see anything (game wise)? Do other games work without problems?

Hello Racerboy,

I feel like we are old friends (forgive the familiarity) as you have helped me on a number of issues.

Well, I am able to run online games without problems but SH3 is another matter. I have completely uninstalled the game back to patch 1.4b. I am able to run Museum and Academy but I cannot even start a Single Mission. I get past the intro screen and get part way through the load bar (approx half way) and it crashes. I am sure that this must be a card settings issue and any advice would be greatly appreciated. I will have a look at my nForce validity and see if that is the problem.

I have exactly the same card, it runs whatever setting I choose, at the moment at default setting, Driver Forceware 175.19 . I had to fix the flat sun.

halfway through the load bar crashing is a file issue in the game (.dat, .sim, .val, .cam, etc). Which file now is the question....

Thanks very much for all of your advice Karleuns,

I tried the complete uninstall in the end and still no joy. I took my machine back to the shop where I bought the card from (Antech in St Ives, Cambs), they laboriously searched for the solution and found it.

Right click on SH3 icon on desktop - select Compatability tab - under Privilege Level heading, select 'Run this program as administrator'.

In the Compatability mode heading I currently have 'Windows XP (Service Pack 2)' also selected.

I now am able to access SH3 once more, unfortunately all of my career info is gone. I now have to start from scratch. But hey, that is a small sacrifice for being able to get back to my beloved U-83 .

Rgds to all
