Default Tempted to buy tomorrow

So i've been playing SH3 for a while now (over 20 patrols) and i decided to look into SH4 now i have two questions.

1) How well will my comp run this game?
- AMD duel Core 2.6 processor
- Asus EN8600GT 512mb
- 2 gig of ram

2) How different is this game from SH3 feature wise?

Welcome Mihajlo!

1) My guess is that you'll run the game just fine with that hardware - I played it for a while with a slower CPU, with only 1GB of RAM and an older video card (I had a bit of lag when I ran into convoys, but nothing that really bothered me).

2) SH4 offers a larger variety of patrols but the basics are pretty much the same.
The crew management works a lot better in SH4 than it did in SH3 in my opinion. There are some differences in the way the sub works too and you'll rely more on your radar to track down Japanese ships in SH4.

I think you'd like SH4 if you liked SH3.

1) Will run extremely pretty.

2) A helluva lot better stock crew management for one. VERY beautiful graphics (That you can enhance more with the community created mods). US vs. Japan so you'll encounter new and exciting ships and crafts that you have not seen yet in SH3. But for SH4 to be worth playing you really want to install some of the mods like RSRD Campaign mod. If you liked SH3 you won't be disappointed with SH4.

It's been a while since I played SH3, but atm I can't think of any differences between the realism settings in the two games. SH4 has "realistic sink time", "manual targeting", "realistic sensors" and so on, just like in SH3.

hail Mihajlo. despite all the bad press i'd seen/read about SH4 i decided to give it a go about 2 months ago. it wasn't nearly as bad as i'd expected, and i gotta say i play it far more than SH3 now. go for it! you'll enjoy i'm sure

as for specs, i currently run:
AMD64 X2 2.2 (dual-core)
nVidia 7300LE 512MB
1 gig RAM

it runs perfectly well with this setup, and doesn't even really slow-down much with a big Task Force/Convoy on screen. in fact, the only time it runs slow is when i bring up the Radio Messages during a long patrol, when it struggles to cope with all the received messages (most of which are pointless anyway). this is prob down to having only 1 gig memory though.

hope this helps

Then i'll guess i'll be playing with unlimited oxygen, petrol and not manual targetting haha.

WELCOME ABOARD!

Where do you live, and how are you buying it? SH4 Gold will be out in three weeks, will have the 1.5 U-Boat Missions built in, and Amazon.com will have it for $20.

And if you buy it through Subsim.com (link at top of page) Neal will get a cut!

I think you play sub games or you don't. Since you do, grab SH4. I play SH3 too. It's a change of scenery and just as fun. Your system will run it well.

Welcome. Your rig is better than mine. SH4 runs fine on my rig.
